At Home 5-30-2009

This weekend was a  weekend of firsts for Claire.

GG's new car

GG was up for a quick visit in her fancy new car...

So we decided as entertainment we would go wander around the Founder’s Day Festival downtown.  This was our first time to go!  It turned out to be pretty fun and I might have bought a few things that were too cute to pass up.

Our second weekend in a row for a picnic! Founder's Day food was not very healthy, but pretty delicious. What is it about food that makes it taste better outdoors anyway?

Claire peeks out at us from the shade of her car seat/stroller.

She was such a sweetie, even in all that heat! She put on her flirtiest smiles and batted her eyelashes for some of the vendors so they would give her more attention.

Massive ice cream cone!

This ice cream cone makes me sad.  Why, you ask?  Because the menu looks so good in retrospect.  There was so much going on at the time that I was distracted and passed up the delicious cones, cups, shakes and floats that were offered.  My waistline is appreciative, but my mouth could really go for a float right about now…

One of my favorite pictures from the event...this guy was awesome. Check out those boots! And where the heck do you find chaps that long?

Another first — Claire bear’s first swim!  After seeing this post on Haley’s blog, I decided it was time to get Claire a baby pool for the backyard.  We’re not brave enough to go down to the neighborhood pool just yet (especially me - I’m not too keen on putting this post-baby body on display yet), so we tried out her new sunshine pool.  Since she’s not sitting by herself yet, we hold her up in the water.

Claire tests the waters with her toes. Even though we were only in the backyard we had to have the matching hat on because it's just such a fabulous combo.

Big first here - Claire learned to splash!

...and splash...

Daddy was a little irritated since he bore the brunt of the splash attack, but it all melted away with these little smiles of excitement.

At one point we thought it might be a good idea to put her in the bumbo and then put her in the water...

FYI - Bumbos can float...

So we gave her back her freedom. GG helped her finish her swim the old fashioned way.

By the time she had her bath (yes, I know…more water!) and got into her little jammies she was a pretty tired little bird.   And speaking of little birds, look what Josh found nesting in our fence right before we went in for the night.  He took the picture and I think it turned out pretty great!

Baby bird in our back fence...now Claire isn't the only baby bird around!

Overall, I’d say it was a pretty great weekend for us!  Thanks for coming to visit us, GG!  We had a great day with you!
