First Friend

My friend Chelsi and her daughter Sophia came to visit us on Monday!  Sophia was born just 10 days after Claire, so it was really fun for us to get to see them together!  Chelsi lives in Omaha, so we don’t get to see each other often, but Chelsi is one of my very best friends.

First let me give you the back story on why Claire and Sophia were destined to be friends.  Chelsi’s grandmother and my grandmother have been great friends for a very long time.  Consequently, our parents fell into good friendships that were strengthened by a yearly trip to Bloys Camp Meeting.  Don’t ask me to explain Bloys to you right now because it deserves a post entirely of its own.  Anyway, Chelsi and I have known each other since birth, being best friends for one week a year for a long time (it is possible, you just have to be there to believe it.)  We both decided to go to Texas A&M (whoop!) for college and ended up as full time best friends and roommates.  This friendship was made even cooler by the fact that we were both pregnant within a few days of each other!  We got to spend our pregnancies praying for a friend who was going through the exact same stages we were!  So now, a fourth generation of our families has begun a friendship, even though they were hardly aware of each others’ presence.

It was such a great visit!  I miss Chelsi so much and it was really neat to get to spend the day with her again!  Here are some pictures from Claire and Sophia’s first meeting.

It was such a fun day!  I can’t wait to see the girls grow up together!  You’ll have to check back in August after we’ve seen them again to see how they’ve both changed!

Sophia, Claire wants you to know that she really enjoyed the play date and she promises not to be such a bully once she has better arm control.
