ABF Christmas Party 2008

ABF Christmas Party 2008

Wow!  Look at that belly!  I’m always shocked to see it in pictures because when I look in the mirror I don’t perceive it to be quite that big!  If it were just me, I probably wouldn’t put this picture out there, but I wanted you all to see my super handsome husband!

We had a pretty interesting weekend!  On Friday night we went to the Christmas party for our ABF.  It was a really great party (well done Kara and Stephanie!) and we had a really good time.  Tim, one of our leaders, graciously volunteered to dress up as Santa for the family pictures and sat through the tears and shreiks of all the children who came to sit on his lap.  It turned out to be really cute.  I, of course did not manage to get out my camera for most of the action, but Kristi did an awesome job documenting it, so I’m referring you to Kristi’s Flickr of ABF Christmas 2008. She got some really good ones of the precious children in our ABF.  They make us really excited and hopeful about how much fun Claire will be!  Here is the only other picture I have from our night of festivities:

Me and Liz

Liz is about a month behind me in her pregnancy with her second child, a girl!  We were talking and Kristi commented on the wonderous photo op of two ladies so far along talking belly to belly, so naturally we had to have a picture.

So Friday was pretty nice and normal, as was Saturday.  Sunday morning, however, I woke up and got ready for church as usual.  I ate my breakfast and noticed that after about an hour and a half that I had not felt the baby move.  This really scared me and Josh because she generally enjoys it when I eat and generally likes to wiggle after that.  We called the doctor just as a precaution and she asked that we go ahead and go down to the hospital to get it all checked out.  Well, we got our practice run checking into Labor and Delivery!  The nurses were wonderful and they strapped me up to some monitors and checked me out for a while until they were comfortable with the baby’s movement and my stability.  I was so nervous that they had to check my blood pressure twice, though!  I can’t imagine what my nerves will be like when we walk in for the real thing!

As you might have guessed by now (since I led off the post with Christmas party pictures), things were absolutely fine!  Thank the Lord!  I kept apologizing for being one of those patients who comes in to L&D for stuff before labor, but the nurses said that lack of fetal movement is one of the times that they do want you to come in and get checked out, so we did the right thing.  They did say I was contracting lightly already so my body is getting in gear for the big event!  I like to think that means we’ll get an early Christmas present, but I have heard that this means absolutely nothing as far as expected arrival date.  My body could just be getting ready for a really long time!  At any rate, we’re getting closer!!!
